I will be comparing the Series 5 and Series 7 based on certain specific features.
Both have very similar shaving heads with 3 cutting elements – two foils for cutting the hairs which are very close to skin and one middle trimmer to lift longer or flat lying hairs. Both give you a very comfortable shaves when compared to other electric razors. Both of them are designed to be used for sensitive skin. The Series 7 is a bit more adequate when it comes to sensitive skin.

Series 7 comes with personalization mode giving you the option of choosing between 3 or 5 different setting – sensitive, normal and intense. Its newer models – 797cc and 7865cc have 5 settings. When looking for aesthetic value of the electric shavers, the Series 5 is very comparable to the Series 7 and they are one of the best-looking electric shavers out there. Being sleek looking with black, red, blue and silver color scheme they give the razor a very premium look.
Though being larger in size when compared to Series 7, these Series 5 models don’t compromise the ergonomics and is well balanced. The design of Series 7 is a bit understated and some might even feel it is a little dull.
When it comes to shaving your tricky areas Series 7 is more comfortable because of the frame size that surrounds the actual cassette is slightly smaller compared to Series 5 models.
Series 7 does not have travel lock at all. Whereas Series 5 has one which can be activated by pressing and holding the On/Off button for 3 seconds.
Having really flexible heads the shaving heads of both Series 7 and Series 5 can move back and forth. When you force the shaving head of Series 7 after locking it in one place the whole mechanism can break. Which is quite common with all models in Series 7. Whereas in Series 5 if excessive force is applied the head will simply move and lock in a different position.
Choosing between both these series is a bit difficult. Both are excellent choices and capable of providing some of the most comfortable shaving experience to you.
Choose Series 7 if you are looking for a more refined shaver, you have a very sensitive skin and are irritation prone, you have lots of flat lying hair growing in different directions – you get a great deal from this one. Choose Series 5 if desiring for best value for your money, you are not at all bothered by the strong vibrations and you don’t have that sensitive skin. The choice is yours to make.
